September 2010
On September 14, 2010 Fr. Andrei (Erastov) came for a month to continue the adornment of our church walls with icons. This latest phase consisted of putting up canvases with the icons of the Crucifixion, Resurrection, Nativity of our Lord and Theophany. Once these canvases and the ornaments which surround them were up, Fr. Andrei painted a mural of the Holy Myrrhbearers at the tomb of Christ on the southern wall between the windows. He had time to start the work on the Icon of the Meeting of the Lord which will be on the north wall between the window. Fr. Theophan came from Holy Trinity Monastery to assist Fr. Andrei. We thank our iconographers and all who helped with putting up the beautiful icons. Special thanks to our parish sisterhood who took turns providing meals for our monks and workers throughout their stay here.

June 2009
On Sunday June 21, parishioners coming for Sunday morning Liturgy found a great obstacle in their way. A tree had fallen during the night and was completely blocking entrance to our property. Our parishioners had to park their cars on the nearby streets and walk to church from there. On the next morning, parishioners and some neighbors joined forces and cleared the way into our church property. We thank everyone who came to help. The road was clear by evening for our Monday evening Adult Education classes.

Our Iconographers arrived to continue work on the frescoing of our church. Fr. Andrei (Erasov) flew in from France, while Fr. Theophan and Fr. Evgeney drove in from Holy Trinity Monastery. Fr. Andrei does the bulk of the work on canvas at his studio in France and then these canvases are applied to the walls and ceilings of our church. The application requires many workers. On Saturday Feb. 2, 2008 a group of our parish volunteers helped the Fathers put up the canvases of the Holy Ascension Icon above the Altar. After the application the Iconographers worked for 5 days putting on finishing touches and ornaments.
